I don't know if anyone else knows about the conflict between the Lord's Resistance Army and the Ugandan government, but it's something that people need to learn about. Basicly, the Lord's Resistance Army raids villages in northern Uganda, and kidnaps children from thier homes. The children are taken across the border into Sudan, where the LRA's camps are located. The boys are taken back to Uganda and forced to fight against the government, while the girls are forced to have sex with the leaders of the LRA. When a child refuses or attempts to escape, the LRA forces the other children to beat them to death, or else they themselves will be killed. The conflict has been going on since 1986, and while it has died down somewhat, there are still children being kidnapped, and it's something that people need to learn about. I reccomend reading the material the Human Rights Watch organization has collected, here: Abducted and Abused

This is a very sad issue. One way to help is to sign the children should never be soldiers petition. If the organazation gets 1 million signitures then they will take the bill to the bush administration, the senate, and congress to get the government to pay attention and do somthing about the child soldiers in uganda. I have a link to the petition in my projects file.

Has anyone seen the movie War Dance? The profits of that movie go to help the children in the war zone. Check out the Invisible Children website (www.invisiblechildren.com), they are a organization that helps the children as well. It also has many ways that everyone can use to help out. Also, pray for those people who are in the war zone. God will make a way for the war to be over, we just need to ask him to. But no, praying alone won't work. God works through people who work for him. quote: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

The movie Invisible Children is all about this. It's a documentary made by teens our age (so it's not slow and boring like others) who went to Ugunda. Or you can go to this link for more info.

I don't even know how to reply to this.

In school today we learned about child soldiers in Sierra Leone. It was so sad. Little boys as young as 7 were taken, and they watched their kidnappers shoot their parents. Then the boys would get their heads cut open and the wound was stuffed with either cocaine or marijuana, and their wounds were plastered back together. Then these kids, high on the drug, were told to rape, burn, and shoot people in small villages. The children were sometimes given a knife and were told to chop of people's hands and then eat them. These boys would also force any female they saw into sex, and when they (the girls) refused, they were shot in the vagina. It's extremely scary to think that people would force these kids into doing such horrific things.
Stand up for what you think is right, even if you're standing alone.

{ quote:
They should call themselves "Resistance to the Lord Army" because they clearly aren't doing God's work. The only way to stop this is to convert these people to Christianity. Hungering for the dictatorship of the Lord... } quote:
What makes you so sure that this aint God's work thewalrus? God has been said to drown out entire nations, kill innocent babies, demand sacrifices of his followers loved one's and other atrocities i donot care to talk about. This was done to boost his ego and enforce HIS ideas of right and wrong. He's done it before, what makes you think this is not his work? Is it because no one has yet owned up to these crimes against our fellow men? I aint saying God demanded that it be so i would just like you realise that not everything is tagged by God. He exists for those who want him to exist, outside that realm of worshoippers he has no power or control.

That is so sad, and I agree with thewalrus.Do you think they are worshiping another Lord? Because, that does not sound like the Lord's work. Normally when I hear the words," Lord's work" I think of something more friendly. Not forcing(sp?) children to do these terrible things.
You've got to get on with my own life.
